— Expresses Gratitude To Gov Wike’s Loving-Kindness To Akpabu Community, Emohua LGA
The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd has promised to work hard to make up for the things he did against the governor of Rivers State, H.E Nyesom Ezenwo Wike when he was a member of the opposition political party, All Progressive Congress in the state.
He said he never believed that the governor was going to ever forgive and accept him into his political family after working against his governorship ambition.
Dr Lloyd stated this at the commissioning of the 1st phase of the Akpabu/Itu/ Omudioga/ Egbeda road in Emohua LGA, constructed by the Nyesom Wike-led Rivers State government on Tuesday.
The council chairman who described Gov Nyesom Wike as a leader with a very large heart said he has after his reunion with the Governor attracted more developmental projects to his area than he did when he served as the leader of Rivers State House of Assembly.
According to him; “Gov Wike has done for my people and me what I couldn’t do for myself all through the period I held the position of the leader of Rivers State House of Assembly. This is a man I worked against his political ambition day and night, today he had brought development to my place of birth, which I couldn’t achieve when I was working against him.
Today my community (Akpabu) is a gateway to other communities in the Ishimbam district of Emohua local government area because of what Gov Wike has done for us, we can’t thank him enough”.
Dr Lloyd who emotionally apologized to the Rivers State Governor for working against his political ambition in the past confessed to how he led the team that moved from one law court to another in search of a court order to stop Gov Wike’s inauguration after the 2015 governorship election, promising to do everything within his powers to ameliorate his past mistakes.
He noted that Gov Wike approved the construction of the Akpabu /Itu/Omudioga/Egbeda road while he was still a member of the APC, describing the governor as a compassionate leader devoid of vindictive politics.
He said he couldn’t believe that after all he had done against Gov Wike, the governor could still find a place in his heart to forgive and reach out to him while he was studying in faraway Dundee, United Kingdom, describing the Governor’s brand of politics as politics without bitterness.
He expressed gratitude for the Governor’s loving-kindness to his community, Akpabu and Emohua local government area at large and promised that the people of the area will continue to stand with the governor in his political journey.
The governor of Rivers State, H.E Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in his remarks said that politics is about interest and that at every point every good politician must be able to review their alignment to ensure that their interest and that of their people are protected.
He said the essence of going into politics is to attract development and opportunities to one’s community and area.
The governor urged the benefiting communities to show gratitude to his administration by casting their votes for PDP candidates in the state, to consolidate the achievements of his administration.
The special guest and governor of Ebonyi State, H.E, Engr. David Nweze Umahi who performed the inauguration of the road said he has always been a close friend of Gov Nyesom Wike and is very proud of the governor’s developmental strides across Rivers State.
Acknowledging the importance of the road to the development of the area, David Umahi maintained that Gov Nyesom Wike has through the construction of the road provided the enabling environment for farmers in the area to improve their production and distribution of agricultural products in commercial quantity.
He congratulated the governor for his quality infrastructure across the state, stressing that God has won the heart of the people through his infrastructural revolution and effective leadership in Rivers State, hence he controls the politics of the State.
Earlier in his project description, the Rivers State commissioner for works, Hon George Kelly Alabo, said the Akpabu/ Itu/Omudioga/ Egbeda road is 8.03km long, with a width of 8 metres, and a total drains length of 9.67km, the size of the drains is 600mm-by-600mm × 150mm thickness and 150mm base thickness.
He said the road will serve as an alternative route for both interstate and intrastate motorists, as well as improve the agricultural potential of the area when its 2nd and 3rd phases are completed.
The well-attended commissioning ceremony also featured traditional dances and wrestling, amidst a large crowd of natives of the area who turned out to register their gratitude to Gov Nyesom Wike.
